Will a Bathroom Renovation Add Value to Your Home?

Once you’ve decided to remodel or fully renovate your bathroom, either for your own benefit or for the fact that it provides the best return on investment for your property price, you’ll probably start doing two things; the first will be looking at styling ideas and the second will be to find a renovation company. Knowing what you want may be quite easy but finding the right company to help you might not be. Here are some tips to help you know you’ve made the right choice.

What Do They Specialise In?

This might seem like a silly question, but experience is everything in life, and even though a company might have 30 years experience in building and renovating, they might not actually have done many bathrooms or kitchens which are the most important, complex and usually the most expensive (aside from an extension for example) renovation jobs. Your local builder might come highly recommended and also be cost effective, but might not have the experience to build your vision on time, on budget and to standard.

Renovation websites will often tell you what they specialise in and they should also have galleries of recent jobs as well as verified reviews on Google and the like. Don’t be fooled by anonymous companies with stock images on their website. Make sure you are getting a company that specialises in exactly what you want.

Do they offer full project management?

A company that offers project management of your renovation is one who can take care of everything for you, meaning that they can organize to supply the cabinets and other bathroom fittings as well as coordinate trades and the renovation timeline. This means that they will be responsible for everything from start to finish. If there is a problem a company providing full project management can deal with any issues to avoid delays or budget blow outs.

Are They Fully Licensed and Insured?

Most companies should have their licences easily found on their websites or business cards etc, but few people verify them. Make sure that the licences match the company name and are in fact still valid. It is a legal requirement to have a licensed electrician to carry out work in Australia for example. Insurance is important too, not only for you but for the company. Sometimes things can go wrong and whilst it isn’t a legal requirement, it is certainly peace of mind should there be an accident or unforeseen complication etc.

Each company you ask to quote will be vying for your money to do the project, so choose wisely and make sure you’ve covered off all of the above. Tradepro Installations also offer a fixed price itemised quotation so that you don’t get any nasty surprises once work has commenced on your renovation (this excludes unforeseen issues such as asbestos, termites or any additions you might make to your original quotation along the way). A specialist with great recent examples and real reviews will be worth more than a slightly cheaper quote in the long run.
