Choosing the Perfect Toilet: A Bathroom Upgrade Made Easy

Stylish Bathroom Interior Design

Are you renovating your bathroom or just looking to replace that old, worn-out toilet? Don’t underestimate the importance of choosing the right one. With so many options available, picking the best toilet for your bathroom isn’t as straightforward as you might think. Tradepro Installations is here to guide you through the process.

Measuring Your Rough-In

First things first, you need to measure your rough-in. This is the distance from your bathroom wall to the middle of your toilet’s flange bolts. While the standard rough-in measures 12 inches, 10 and 14-inch models are also available. It’s usually best to stick with the same rough-in you currently have to make the installation process more straightforward.

Ensuring the Right Fit

If you have a smaller bathroom or are working with a tight budget, consider a round toilet bowl. These save approximately 3 inches of space and are usually more budget-friendly than elongated bowls. In most cases, toilet heights are around 15 inches, but if you’re taller, you might find a 17 or 19-inch toilet more comfortable, with less strain on your back and knees. However, these taller toilets may not be suitable for children or shorter adults.

Choosing a Style That Suits You

Don’t limit yourself to the standard two-piece toilet with a tank that bolts on top of the bowl. There are more stylish options available. Consider a one-piece toilet for a sleek look that’s easier to clean. For those who prioritise easy cleaning and a unique appearance, a wall-mounted toilet might be just what you need. Keep in mind that wall-mounted toilets are often pricier than their traditional counterparts.

Selecting a Colour to Match Your Aesthetic

White may still be the go to colour for toilet bowls, but you’re no longer limited to porcelain white. Explore other colours like black or grey to give your bathroom a modern and sophisticated look. If you’re all about that coordinated aesthetic, choose a toilet that matches your bathroom tiles.

To Bidet or Not to Bidet?

The bidet debate: it’s your choice. Adding a bidet feature to a standard toilet can enhance both your bathroom’s resale value and your daily comfort, especially if you have mobility issues.

Consider Efficiency and Sustainability

If you’re in the market for a new toilet, it’s a good time to think about sustainability. Over the past two decades, low-flush toilets have made significant advances. They use power-assisted flush or gravity features to effectively handle waste while conserving water. When choosing a toilet, compare its flushing performance to other models.

Don't Sacrifice Comfort

Comfort is key in every aspect of life, and your toilet should be no exception. Today’s toilets come with various smart technology features, such as heated seats, soft-closing lids, feet warmers, self-deodorising flushes, automatic flushing and even Bluetooth capabilities. Just keep in mind that additional features can be expensive to replace if they malfunction.

Choosing the perfect toilet is an important step in creating the bathroom of your dreams. Whether you prioritise space, style or sustainability, there’s a toilet out there that’s just right for you.
